Echinacea purpurea strengthens the body's resistance and stimulates immunity. It is widely used to prevent or reduce the frequency and consequences of cold snaps, such as throat and upper respiratory tract irritation, often accompanied by viral or bacterial complications. Echinacea is also known to soothe the throat in the event of a cold.
Selenium, Zinc and Vitamin D3 are involved in the normal functioning of the immune system.
Zinc is supplied in chelated form, i.e. bound to an amino acid (glycine). Compared to other forms of Zinc intake, this chelate has the dual advantage of improving Zinc absorption (bioavailability) and protecting the stomach against possible irritation.
Vitamin D is essential to the body. Our bodies produce vitamin D3 when our skin is exposed to sunlight. In dietary supplements, Vitamin D is supplied either in D2 form (ergocalciferol), which is different from the body's own D3 form, or in D3 form (cholecalciferol). The latter is generally of animal origin (sheep's wool lanolin) or synthetic.
