One of the essential elements of the sleep mechanism is melatonin, a hormone naturally produced by the pineal gland when it's dark.
By secreting melatonin, the pineal gland informs the brain that it's dark and that it's a good time to sleep.
Melatonin synthesis begins in the absence of light, peaking between 2 and 4 a.m., then decreases during the second half of the night in preparation for wakefulness. In some individuals, this message no longer functions correctly, leading to difficulty in falling asleep or a shift in sleep times.
Chronobiane LP 1.9 mg contains sustained-release melatonin to help reduce the time it takes to fall asleep.
