Oily fish such as salmon, herring and sardines provide an oil rich in omega-3 fatty acids, particularly the famous DHA and EPA, whose beneficial effects on the cardiovascular system have now been demonstrated.
An intake of 250 mg of DHA seems adequate for the prevention of cardiovascular risks.
When is it recommended?
- EPA and DHA intake of 250 mg per day is known to support heart function. The same intake of DHA helps maintain normal vision.
